Description

Policies are compared with input at a regional, national and international input and possible similarities and complimentarities sought. On the basis of this, steps are taken to align, integrate and connect local policies with those in the region, country and abroad.

INTERREG Europe: Smart Resilience for European Cities and Regions

Summary

Its main objective is improving policies for the delivery of innovation in public service applications to support and strengthen the capacity of cities and regions to prevent, resist, absorb and recover from societal and environmental risks/hazards (resilience). The project will be carried out between 2018-2022.

Communication and participation in urban mobility planning in Vienna (Austria)

Summary

Vienna developed its urban mobility plan through a moderated, interdepartmental process to bring key players on board from the start. This allowed it to receive feedback already during the process of setting-up the mobility concept. Therefore, the co-ordinating municipal department for urban planning developed a common vision with stakeholders and citizens, creating a plan that is widely accepted and then embarked on a joint implementation process.

Enhancing the participatory process when building a municipal climate change agenda

Summary

The voices of local community members and stakeholders play an active role in public processes within the City of Recife. Given the vulnerability of Recife to climate change impacts and the fact a high number of its population is vulnerable to hazards, the city used the GreenClimateCities methodology to enhance its participatory processes as it defined its pathway to a low carbon future through the Urban-LEDS project.

Buckinghamshire Advantage

Summary

Buckinghamshire Advantage was establishing as a new vehicle for managing development in Buckinghamshire. It has been designed to establish a really effective mechanism for making sure the local land use planning authorities, the transport authority, and the public sector development community work as closely as possible with each other and think as creatively as possible about how best to generate the appropriate quality and quantity of development and ensure the creation of suitable infrastructure to support any development.
