Silent inner-city overnight deliveries in Barcelona (Spain)

Summary

In 2003 the Municipality of Barcelona collaborated with the national chain of supermarkets Mercadona for testing the feasibility of silent overnight deliveries in the city centre. An adapted 40 tonne truck and special unloading procedures produced noise levels differing very little from ambient conditions and are therefore in accordance with noise emission certifications.
