European Workshop on Resilience in Cities and Communities

4 April 2017, 10:00 - 17:00
Berlin, Germany
DIN e. V., Am DIN-Platz, Burggrafenstraße 6, 10787
Cities across Europe are facing complex environmental, social and economic challenges as well as an increasing frequency and intensity of hazards and disasters. Cities need to work together to enhance Europe’s resilience as a whole: this requires standardised resilience management.

Smart Mature Resilience (SMR), a multi-disciplinary research project working for more resilient cities in Europe, will conduct a European Workshop on Resilience in Cities and Communities hosted by DIN in Berlin (Germany).

Cities and communities will have the chance to network and discuss problems, needs, different experiences and solutions – and of course benefit from a wealth of information.

The workshop is open to interested cities and communities as well as to related research projects and authorities working on the topic of resilience.

Agenda items

1. Information about city resilience: Activities in research projects and standardisation: Presentations from the projects SMR, DARWIN, IMPROVER, RESILIENS, RESOLUTE, Resccue, RESIN, SmartResilience, and from the standardisation committees ‘Security and Resilience’ and ‘Sustainable cities and communities’

2. Sharing experiences: Challenges and needs of cities and communities for becoming more resilient vs. possible solutions and good practices

3. Bridge the gap: Gap analysis and future to do's in standardisation

Please register by 27 March 2017 to participate in this full-day workshop at the DIN premises in Berlin. Registration is now open online. For any questions, contact Mr. René Lindner (Email: rene.lindner@din.de; Tel: +49 30 2601 2942).

The number of participants is limited. Limited funds for travel support can be made available on request to a small number of cities attending the event.
